Happiness is Not Bliss
Let us make a significant distinction.
Happiness and Bliss: two sides of a coin?
Happiness and Bliss: two peas in a pod?
Is one a variety of the other?
Does one cause the other?
Is it a matter of degree?
A horse and a warthog?
A song and a ding dong?
Happiness is when we get our most precious physical and social needs met.
Bliss is when we walk hand in hand with God.
Happiness is a cog in the machinery of Samsara.
Bliss arises as Samsara diminishes.
Happiness is half of a dualism with Sadness.
Bliss is like a mineral in the Earth's crust.
Happiness is fragile. It is banished from Hell and superfluous in Heaven.
Bliss strolls placidly through Hell, Heaven and all realms.
On your deathbed say farewell to friends, loves, community, and accomplishments, sources of great Happiness.
On your deathbed say hello to Bliss.
Happiness is not achieved by grasping for Happiness. Suffering is not extinguished by rejecting suffering.
Happiness and Suffering are both Empty in the eyes of Bliss.
But are they perhaps the same in the final analysis?
Maybe Happiness is the question and Bliss is the answer.
