Slippery Slope
Sliding down the slippery slope towards death,
Faster and faster.
I try to put on the brakes,
But each instant has passed almost before it begins.
What is the meaning of this hopelessness?
Shall I pretend that castles in Samsara last forever?
I am a sand castle on the beach.
Each second a few grains are lost to the wind.
Soon the tide will turn and I'll be washed away.
Childhood, adulthood and old age, all gone.
At least I can watch each grain of sand as it blows away.
I can watch the instants pass while waiting for the tide.
Well Hallelujah and Whoop De Do!
I'll eat my shorts if that isn't a fabulous practice on the path to Awakening.
